A woman's face emerges against vertical bands of color, while flowing strands of hair extend beyond its contours. Her features are recognizable, yet color frees the portrait from naturalistic description. The title, I'm from here, introduces the idea of belonging without telling us what “here” means or where its boundaries lie.
