R. Rashad’s passion radiates through his artistic creations. Through both figurative sculpture and painting, the artist creates works celebrating the beauty of the Nubian diaspora through deeds and existence. Born and raised in the Midwest, R. Rashad found himself interacting with many cultures and traditions in his formative years. R. Rashad received his initial artistic training from a long-time apprenticeship, and the art department at Hampton University. Hampton further exposed him to the long rich tradition of African American artist and their seldom highlighted contributions in American society. Through contemplation and execution, R. Rashad developed a unique style that both aesthetically pleases and culturally confronts. Unabashedly celebrating Nubian Americana, the similarities and distinctions between cultures are a repeated thread within his works. Woven into a tapestry of passion, ingenuity, and creativity R. Rashad seeks to boldly make his mark in a demonstration of excellence undenied.
