Gina Godfrey is a Toronto-based artist whose career spans more than five decades. She began her artistic training at Central Technical School and later studied printmaking at Ontario College of Art University. Throughout her career, she has continued to expand her creative practice through studies in art, interior design, calligraphy, and fashion illustration.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Israel, the Caribbean, and across North America. Known for its vibrant colour, layered imagery, and playful visual storytelling, her art invites viewers to discover new details and interpretations with each encounter.

Godfrey describes her distinctive artistic style as "Popography," a contemporary approach influenced by artists such as Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, and Georgia O’Keeffe. Working with close-up imagery, unexpected juxtapositions, and bold compositions, she recontextualizes familiar subjects to create thought-provoking and visually engaging works.

Much of her current work begins as a hand-created collage that is digitally scanned and meticulously re-mastered. Through multiple layers of digital manipulation - often involving numerous adjustments to color, saturation, texture, and composition - she transforms the original image into a finished artwork that is both dynamic and refined. The resulting pieces are produced as archival giclée prints on canvas using museum-quality inks and Larson Juhl framing materials.

In 2014, Godfrey opened Gina Godfrey Gallery in Toronto, where she showcases a body of work that reflects over 50 years of artistic exploration and evolution. Her work continues to challenge perception, encourage curiosity, and make contemporary art accessible to a broad audience through its combination of creativity, craftsmanship, and affordability.
