A born and raised Florida girl, I have always had a deep appreciation for the great
outdoors. After four years of studying art at UCF and USF, I struck out via
bicycle with my close friend Jimmy Wray. Crossing the country via its major
mountain ranges and immersing oneself in the changes of the land hones a persons
perception of the ways of life. Traveling first for the sake of cycling, then in
pursuit of a hometown, we settled in Key West 35 years ago and raised two
children, Louis and Lena; life has become full and rewarding in a whole new way.
Working in various printing and graphic shops, from newspaper to
Advertising, for the past 25 years I have applied my graphic art skills, love of
wood, appreciation of nature and a fine art background, to become a wood carver,
sign maker and furniture maker. My custom-made wooden signs and gold leaf
work can be seen throughout Key West.
My various talents have culminated into a loose furniture design and
execution. Exotic tropical hardwoods milled by husband Jimmy have been sculpted
and polished. My mission is to find function for the form. There are so many
beautiful and exotic species of hardwoods here in the islands. We must preserve
them when able, treasure them always and find use for them as they fall.
Key West is beautiful, exotic, eclectic and eccentric. Any public art piece should 
represent at least 2 of these 4 factors.  With a team such as proposed, a cohesive 
layout is sure to unfold.
