To marvel in the flight of birds, longing to rise into the sky with swift lightness as birds do with their ability to navigate their direction and course with keen instincts. I look for every bird's extraordinary design and individual bird song and share the view of many cultures that have seen birds as messengers from heaven or symbols of departed souls. Importantly, humans are inextricably interconnected to the well being of birds and their habitat. In many ways, these collages reflect a personal sentiment of deep concern for the fate of birds. The expression 'canary in the coal mine' is a timely and cautionary message for humans. 

A series about clouds, about the movement of clouds, how they gather and how they disperse, how they thunder to create rain that fill the oceans and rivers, rain as essential source to all living things on the planet. The movement of clouds is an expression of seasonal cycles with their continuity of flow and ever-changing presence. Clouds express the unfolding of existence - how all things in the cosmos come to be and pass on.Clouds are an expression of endless pattern in the sky and remind us of a certain order in nature.

This series began with original drawings then laser cut as matrix templates for monoprinting integrated with dry point etching, linocut - woodcut and collage using kinwashi, hosho and Rives B.F.K paper.

This series of monotypes was made while listening to the music of Louis, Bix, Duke, Ella and many other jazz legends of the 20's and 30's. The process became a way to work through grief and meaningful way to absorb the music of my father after his death.
