Logan James was born and raised in Salem, Oregon. He began making jewelry at twelve years old, apprenticing under Royjohn Bolduc throughout his middle and high school years. He went on to hone his craft under master metalsmith Pat Flynn in both blacksmithing and goldsmithing, spending three years in Flynn’s studio in New York. He has made pieces of art that have been worn by celebrities and recognized by some of the most prestigious institutions of this nation including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Stanford University, and the Chicago Museum of Fine Arts. In his own work, James fuses gold to iron, exploring the natural dichotomies between the two metals, while also creating a harmony in their opposition to each other. He brings Classical metalsmithing techniques into the present, arming the wearer for the modern age. In the fall of 2020, he returned to Oregon where he worked as the custom jewelry designer at Skeie’s Jewelers in Eugene. In 2024, he took the leap to pursue his artistic vision independently and has since been featured in Milan Jewelry Week 2025. Logan and his wife now reside in Coburg, Oregon.
