Defiant Catch has no intention of surrendering quietly. There is resistance in it, movement in every direction, and the feeling of one last fight even when the outcome is already becoming clear.
Defiant Catch unfolds across a vivid yellow field where deep greens, blue-greens, black, and muted aquatic tones twist into a turbulent circular movement.
Within the abstraction, a fisherman emerges in the act of bringing in his catch. The composition captures the instant the fish breaks through the surface of the water, lure still caught in its mouth, while the surrounding paint churns around the encounter. Sweeping curves, splatter, cells, and fractured passages reinforce the sense of water being disturbed by the struggle.
The image was not planned as a literal scene; it revealed itself through the finished abstraction. What remained was a moment of resistance—the fish caught, but still fighting.
That is the identity of Defiant Catch: caught does not mean surrendered.
