No Innocent Parties knows exactly what it is doing. Neither man is passive, neither is being carried along, and neither needs to be talked into staying. They have chosen each other deliberately and completely.
The title is not about guilt. It is about agency. Neither one gets to claim innocence because both of them are equally involved, equally exposed, and equally willing to be there.
Description
Two men meet at the center of No Innocent Parties, their bodies built from individually layered and painted foamboard forms that overlap into a single intimate composition. Violet, plum, magenta, burgundy, and deep charcoal move across their bodies, allowing each figure to remain distinct even as their arms, torsos, and faces fold into one another.
Behind them, the plastered surface is heavy and subdued, crossed by dark sweeping forms that rise and intersect above the couple. They can read as shadows, barriers, scrutiny, or simply the weight of everything that exists outside the moment between them.
But the figures do not pull away.
That is where the title lives. Neither man is an innocent bystander to what is happening. Both are fully involved. Both know exactly who they are choosing. Whatever judgment, expectation, or pressure may exist around them, neither one is asking to be excused from the relationship.
No Innocent Parties is about intimacy without apology—the decision to be completely present with another person and accept that choosing each other makes both of you equally responsible for the love you are standing in.

The layered foamboard construction gives the two figures pronounced physical depth, while directional lighting emphasizes the overlapping bodies, raised edges, and plaster texture behind them. Changes in viewing angle create additional separation between the figures and the darker crossing forms in the background.
