Encroachment Line takes its title from the way one color field presses into another. The green acts like a cold front pushing against the orange warmth and driving it toward the edge of the canvas. That weather-like movement gives the painting its structure. The composition reads as a visual pressure system with the cooler force advancing and the warmer area being displaced. Rather than sitting quietly beside each other the colors behave like opposing fronts in motion. The title names that moment of pressure. Encroachment Line is about the edge where one force begins taking space from another and the tension created as the warm front is pushed off the surface.
