Trent Davis Bailey is a photographer born and based in Colorado whose long-form projects go far beyond sheer documentation to instead create associations between time and place, imagination and truth, childhood and adulthood, and wilderness and community. Bailey's work is regularly published in many publications, including The Atlantic, The New York Times Magazine, and T Magazine, and is held in the permanent collections of the Denver Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, among others. His photographs have been featured in exhibitions at the Denver Art Museum, the Fort Collins Museum of Art, Kominek Gallery in Berlin, Robert Koch Gallery in San Francisco, and elsewhere. Bailey received his BFA and BA from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2009 and his MFA from the California College of the Arts in 2015. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a 2024 Working Assumptions Project Grant, a 2019 Film Photo Award, the 2015 Snider Prize from the Museum of Contemporary Photography, and a 2014 Magnum Foundation grant.
