Lens-based artist Shawn Bush grew up in Detroit, Michigan, whose civic history and geography continue to shape his exploration of space within the American sociopolitical landscape. His photographs, videos, and large-format collages respond to overbuilt systems, failing icons, and crumbling mythologies. Bush holds an MFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago. His honors include a 2020 Wyoming Arts Council Fellowship, the 2017 Lenscratch Student Prize, and the 2016 T.C. Colley Grant. His debut artist book, A Golden State, won first prize in the handmade category at the 2016 Lucie Photobook Prize and is held in several museum collections. Bush is the founder of Dais Books and Associate Professor of Photography at Casper College.
