Bill began his photo career right here in Coronado as manager at Wilcox Photo, in the Crown Shops at 10th and C. With the help of Bank of Coronado, Bill purchased the business in 1989, changing the name to Crown City Photography and adding color processing as well as building upon the existing Portrait and Wedding services. With the advent of digital photography and the move away from chemicals and film, Bill seized upon an offer from the Hotel del to explore a 6-month in-house photo vendor agreement. Shortly thereafter, Bill signed on as Hotel del Coronado Resident Photographer, a position he has held since 1999.

Bill is very proud to be a volunteer HeartsApart photographer, an organization that arranges pre-deployment photo sessions for service members across America. Additionally, for over a decade Bill has volunteered to photograph young cancer patients at Rady Children's Hospital for the annual Celebration of Champions benefit event Bill is a 1982 Coronado High School graduate and has a degree in Political Science earned in 1986 at UCLA. He is married to local estate planning attorney Margaret T. Sandke and they have two children.
