Claire Becker (Paris, France) is a multidisciplinary artist with more than 30 years of experience. Trained in visual arts, dance, music, theater, and literature, she lived for ten years in New York as a dancer and artist before settling in Mexico in 1997.
Her work weaves aesthetic exploration with spiritual and existential depth. Moving between sculpture, installation, photography, and text, she employs materials such as bronze, stone, resin, light, mirror, and language—each chosen for both its sensory presence and symbolic resonance, where the physical behavior of matter defines its meaning. Guided by a poetic and essential visual language, her pieces invite the viewer into an active, playful dialogue of perception—circling, reflecting, and reading to uncover their own layers of significance.
She has held 32 solo exhibitions in museums, galleries, and public spaces in France, the United States, Chile, and especially Mexico, including the Museo de la Ciudad de México, the Chopo Museum, the Women’s Museum, the Museum of History of Tlalpan, the Senate of the Republic in Mexico City, the Querétaro Contemporary Art Museum (MACQ), the Museum of Anthropology of Xalapa, and the MACAY Museum in Mérida.
She has participated in over 130 group exhibitions and art fairs throughout Latin America, North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and took part in the Venice Biennale in 2009.
Her public sculptures are installed in several cities, and her works form part of private and museum collections in Mexico — including the Museo de la Cancillería, the Querétaro Contemporary Art Museum (MACQ), the Women’s Museum, and the Museo del Arzobispado — as well as in Chile, at the Arte al Límite Museum.
As a curator, she conceived the exhibition Viceversa at the Museo de la Cancillería de la Ciudad de México (2021). She also co-created the short film Involutati, based on her sculptural and poetic work, which was selected for 15 international film festivals and received several awards, including Best Experimental Film at the Las Vegas International Film and Screenwriting Festival 2021.
