Cindy Pieronek is a contemporary abstract artist based in San Diego, California, whose vibrant, highly textured paintings explore color, movement, rhythm, and the energy of spontaneous creation.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and influenced by her Greek heritage, Cindy Pieronek was drawn to art from early childhood. She initially pursued classical piano performance in the Music Department at Michigan State University before turning toward a more analytical path, earning both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in antenna theory. Her engineering career included work on U.S. Air Force programs. Following motherhood, a lifelong interest in movement and physical expression eventually led her to another calling—as a Pilates instructor and functional movement trainer. She continues to teach clients in her Pilates studio alongside her studio practice as an artist.

Cindy Pieronek returned to her early love of visual art approximately eight years ago, initially painting independently before pursuing intensive study in abstract painting over the past three years. This unusual convergence of disciplines—engineering, music, movement, and visual art—now informs an intuitive practice that balances structure with improvisation. Her background in classical music and physical movement finds its way naturally into paintings driven by rhythm, gesture, and energy.

Working primarily in abstraction, Pieronek creates saturated, expressive compositions characterized by bold color, tactile surfaces, dynamic forms, and rhythmic movement. Her work has been selected for regional and national juried exhibitions and shown in galleries in San Diego and Oceanside. Her paintings are held in private collections.
