Cindy Stevens is a contemporary sculptor based in Northern Virginia and a resident artist at the Workhouse Arts Center. Her work begins with a simple idea: we misjudge what we do not understand, and curiosity begins when we take the time to see.

Working primarily with animal forms, Stevens explores presence, character, and connection through bronze, architectural cast stone, and mixed media. She develops each sculpture through close observation, using surface, posture, and gesture to create a moment of connection between the work and the viewer. Her current series, Beauty in the Unexpected, focuses on animals that are often overlooked, feared, or dismissed.

Stevens’s work has been exhibited nationally and recognized by institutions and organizations including the A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery, the American Artists Professional League, and Allied Artists of America. Her public art experience includes Suspended Motion, commissioned by the City of Roanoke for the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building.
