AND… (2020-present) is a series of oil paintings in which I explore the uncertainty and possibility of empty urban landscapes that hover between familiar and imagined. Searching for clarity amidst the chaos of both inner and outer worlds, I use meditative brush strokes and expansive skies to evoke moments of calm.
The paintings are a moment in a longer narrative. The implied continuation of the scenes off the sides of the canvas suggests that, like life, the full story is not contained in a single frame. Details invite the viewer to look more closely and bring their own experiences to imagine what lies beyond, what comes after the “and…”.
LOOKING SKYWARD (2021-present) is around the theme: "When life gets you down, look up." The series explores the idea of shifting perspective – literally and figuratively. Each painting looks upwards, capturing an expanse of sky with a sliver of a building in view, keeping the viewer grounded on earth.
THE GLOW (2019) is a triptych about paying attention to your surroundings rather than being sucked into the constant distraction and hubbub of digital devices.
