Ohio resident Christine Deemer started her art career working with oil and acrylic painting, with minimal time spent in ceramics. It was in 2016 when she found her passion in the encaustic medium, also known as hot wax painting. Raised in Southern California, her appreciation for the ocean continues to shape her practice. Deemer's encaustic and mixed media paintings explore themes of environmental awareness and the beauty and vulnerability in natural landscapes.

Deemer has exhibited consistently since 2008, from juried regional exhibitions across Iowa, Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio to international exhibitions in the Netherlands. She has held solo exhibitions at the Art Supply Depō (Toledo, Ohio), American Frame (Maumee, Ohio), and, most recently, Schedel Arboretum and Gardens (Elmore, Ohio) in 2026. Deemer is a frequent participant in competitive local art fairs, having been juried into Bowling Green, Ohio's Wood County Invitational Art Show at Blackswamp Arts Festival, Sylvania; 2026 Best in Show at Ohio's Maple & Main; and the Crosby Festival of the Arts at Toledo Botanical Garden (Ohio). In 2025 she exhibited in a two-person encaustic art exhibition at 20 North Gallery in Toledo, Ohio.

Deemer holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado (Colorado Springs), a Master of Business Administration from Regis University (Denver, Colorado), and a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from Western Illinois University (Davenport, OH and Macomb, IL). Her artwork is held in private collections across the United States, including Ohio, Michigan, Oregon, New York, Indiana, Colorado, and California, and is part of the permanent collection of the Encaustic Art Institute of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She currently serves as Director of Art & Administration for Schedel Arboretum & Gardens in Elmore, Ohio.
