Journeys in Color: Stories of Latin America & the Caribbean

Journeys in Color invites visitors to travel across Latin America and the Caribbean through art, craft, photography, and everyday objects. From the winding mountain roads of Costa Rica to the highlands of Peru and Bolivia, the colorful markets of Mexico and Colombia, and the vibrant traditions of Panama, Jamaica, Guatemala, Honduras, and Brazil, this exhibition celebrates the people, places, and cultural traditions that shape these communities.

Each object offers a glimpse into daily life—from small sculptures of oxcarts and market stands to handcrafted masks, miniature vehicles, embroidered cuadros, intricate molas, feather and yarn artworks, and paintings inspired by local landscapes. Images of food, farming, transportation, music, animals, and clothing become pathways into stories of creativity, ingenuity, heritage, and connection.

Together, these works reveal that a journey is more than a distance traveled. It is an exchange of ideas, traditions, materials, flavors, and memories. Journeys in Color encourages visitors to look closely, discover the details, and experience the rich diversity of cultures across the Americas—one object and one story at a time.

This exhibition was organized in partnership with Museo de las Americas. The premier Latin American Art Museum in the Rocky Mountain region, Museo de las Americas has been celebrating the artistic and cultural achievements of our communities for 35 years. Museo is dedicated to educating our community through collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting the diverse Latin American arts and cultures, from ancient to contemporary, through innovative exhibitions and programming. Their emphasis on Latin American culture allows them to present a rich tapestry of experience and creativity. All the artworks in this exhibit are on loan from Museo de las Americas.
