drawing, sculpture, ceramics and design for a variety of audiences,
ranging from elementary to High School and University level in South
Florida. Prior to that he worked in Cleveland, OH as a freelance artist on
design projects while working on his own art at his home studio.
Although Ron continues to go through phases of sculpture and painting,
as modes of expression, making plates for him, is still a unique dialog
between drawing and a kind of low-relief sculpture - by a process of
mark-making, bitten in an acid bath or perhaps carved away from a
surface and rolled up with ink. His love for "printmaking” and it’s never
ending range of layered possibilities, remains his passion and obsession
and the primary medium of choice.
Ron Garrett earned his MFA in printmaking from Kent State University,
Kent, OH and a BFA from Guilford College, in Greensboro, NC. Ron also
studied Drawing and Painting for three years at Ringling College of Art
and Design earlier.
He has numerous one-person and group shows over his career, and
has been a visiting artist internationally at Chitrikala Parishad School of
Art in Bangalore, India. Ron has traveled extensively throughout India
and curated an international exhibition of contemporary American
Printmakers, touring six Indian cities.
His unique experiences in art, education and business, allow him to
quickly identify customer project needs. So whether you are a collector
