Kunde, born 1969, studied at the Art Students League in New york from 1989 to 1992 and the Cleveland Institute of Art from 1988 to 1989. He has had solo and group exhibitions in Ohio and Florida, primarily in Cleveland and Miami Beach.

Eric Kunde paints botanical and figurative subjects in a style that is so realistic that it is "uncomfortable beauty", a term he uses to examine and expose a subject so that both its beauty and undesirable aspects are revealed as well as its vulnerability in being so scrutinized..
