Bruce McCombs is a painter and etcher specializing in photo-realistic watercolor paintings, most often depicting urban elements and landscapes. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art in Ohio, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Tulane University of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is currently a faculty member at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

He draws much inspiration from the scenery of west Michigan, saying that he has "become fascinated with eclectic architecture...capturing unusual glimpses of structures we see every day and bringing to light something new about the ordinary."
