Carole Beauvais is a Canadian contemporary artist based in Québec whose practice spans painting, sculpture, commissioned work and large-scale public art.
Beauvais studied Fine Arts at Langara College in Vancouver before completing a BFA in Studio Arts, with a concentration in sculpture, at Concordia University in Montréal. Her creative background also includes extensive classical piano studies through the Royal Conservatory of Music and McGill University — an influence that continues to resonate in the rhythm, movement and layered visual language of her work.
Over a career spanning three decades, Beauvais has exhibited in Canada, the United States and France. Her work has been presented in Montréal, New York, Miami, Beverly Hills, Palm Desert, Las Vegas and Brouage, France, including exhibitions and events associated with Art Basel Miami, Red Dot Fair, ArtExpo New York and Art Takes Times Square.
Her practice extends beyond the gallery into architecture and public space. In 2011, Beauvais created La Vision, a 22-by-11-foot ceramic art mural integrated into the Boucherville Rowing Club in Québec. The permanent public artwork reflects themes that recur throughout her practice: vision, movement, targets, human intention and the ripple effects created by our actions.
Her work is held in public, corporate and private collections, including the Ville de Boucherville; Blakes, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Montréal; and private collections in Canada and the United States. Beauvais received a Gold Medal from Le Cercle des Artistes Peintres et Sculpteurs du Québec in 2008, and her work has been featured in numerous art publications and media over the course of her career.
Working through bold colour, expressive mark-making, recurring symbols and physical movement, Beauvais creates artwork intended to be experienced rather than simply observed. She is interested in what happens when artwork enters a space and begins a relationship with the people who encounter it — sparking memory, emotion, recognition and possibility.
Her broader creative philosophy, PLAY LOUD, is an invitation to live boldly, feel deeply, create freely and take up space unapologetically.
