Auspicious: “Conductive to success; favourable.” While making this drawing, the theme of success and humble beginnings were whizzing through my mind. What I capture in this composition is a young woman, confident yet afraid about her unknown future. This piece is about taking a dive off the big diving board, about doing something despite being afraid of the potential outcome. In this case, it is moving to a bigger city to chase the dream of breaking out of the mundane. The road ahead of us all is filled with uncertainty and turmoil and there are events in our life we simply can not do anything about. However, what we are free to do is to decide how we react to these cataclysmic, life-forking events. *The Auspicious was inspired by a real person I chose not to disclose here*
