Laurie Sloan is a printmaker and educator whose work has been widely exhibited across the United States and internationally. She is Professor Emerita of Art in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Connecticut, where she taught since 1993. Sloan received her M.F.A. from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome, and her B.F.A. from Miami University in Ohio.
Sloan’s prints are included in over twenty major collections, such as the DeCordova Museum, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and Bucknell University. She has received numerous honors, including a Connecticut Commission on the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship, and has participated in a range of juried exhibitions and international portfolio exchanges. In addition to her studio practice, she has lectured at institutions including the University of Alberta, Massachusetts College of Art, and the University of Tennessee.
Earlier in her career, Sloan was an Assistant Professor at Rhode Island College from 1987 to 1990, where she exhibited in shows such as Six Printmakers and the Faculty Show in 1989. The gallery’s permanent collection includes a print by Sloan created in 1989, reflecting her early work during this period.
