Off the Map portrays a cowboy following the tracks of a missing bull into a remote creek bottom, far from roads and familiar landmarks. Moments like these reflect the commitment required to care for livestock across vast landscapes, where patience, observation, and a deep knowledge of the country often prove as important as horsemanship.

The painting speaks to the responsibility that accompanies ranching life and the willingness to go wherever the work leads. Inspired by British Columbia’s Marble Canyon, this piece celebrates the enduring relationship between cowboy, livestock, and the rugged landscapes they call home.
