Alexandra Verboom Fritz (b. 1991, Vernon, British Columbia) is a contemporary Western painter working in oil and acrylic. Painting in a style of loose realism, she combines expressive brushwork with strong, recognizable form to depict contemporary ranch life and the relationship between people, livestock, and land.
Raised in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Verboom Fritz developed an early connection to horses, landscape, and rural community life. Entirely self-taught, she studied the work of master painters and developed her understanding of composition, colour, and form through observation and years of experimentation.
Her early work focused primarily on the figure and wildlife. In 2018, she accepted a bookkeeping position at the historic Gang Ranch in British Columbia, where she became immersed in working ranch culture. Her time there changed the direction of her work and drew her toward painting the everyday people, animals, work, and landscapes of ranch life.
Verboom Fritz's work has been exhibited throughout Western Canada and featured in Canadian Cowboy Country Magazine and Beef in BC Magazine. Her paintings are held in private collections across Canada, the United States, and Australia, and her work is exhibited and available through Brass Buffalo Trading Post & Gallery in Longview, Alberta. In 2025, she presented her fourth solo exhibition, The West is Still Alive: Cowboys, Cattle & Cowponies. In 2026, she was one of six artists selected for the Rising Artists program within the Calgary Stampede's Western Oasis Artists' Studios.
Verboom Fritz currently lives and works on Douglas Lake Ranch near Merritt, British Columbia. Her experiences within ranching communities across Western Canada continue to shape both the subjects she paints and the stories she seeks to preserve through her work.
