“Unexpected Places” brings together work by three dynamic artists in a bold, colorful, and richly textured small group show. Jeweli Eslinger, Andy Brooks, and Meredith Olinger were the recipients of the Juror’s Choice award in last year’s Juried Member Show. This exhibition is the fulfillment of that award.
The title of this exhibit speaks to the unconventional sources and experiences that have recently shaped each artist’s respective practice. Brooks looks for source material for his photography in mundane household corners and grocery store aisles. Eslinger and Olinger have both recently undergone cross country relocations in the last year. Eslinger’s captivating abstract collage portraiture has been a material pivot as she adjusts to a new context. Olinger’s dense mixed-media works are a continuation of an ongoing practice, pushing scale and layering.
