Marc Riboud (1923–2016) was a French photojournalist and Magnum Photos veteran celebrated for his elegant, humanistic compositions. While his career spanned the globe, he is most renowned for his extensive work in China.

As one of the first Westerners allowed entry after 1954, Riboud documented the country's transformation over five decades. From the Cultural Revolution to the rise of industrial giants, his photographs offer a rare, rhythmic, and empathetic record of Chinese life.
