I grew up on a ranch in South Texas, came to NY for college (Barnard), worked in publishing and then wrote childrens books for awhile. I've been photographing since high school, got my first serious camera when I graduated from college. More recently I've begun to make photomontages, and often complete my pieces with encaustic wax. I've just added a second Instagram page strictly for photomontages: #transplendentlandscapes. My primary page is #smsaundersphotographer. Some of my
