Anne Toovey is an abstract painter based in Ipswich, Queensland. Her practice is grounded in process-led painting, with a focus on surface, light and spatial instability. Works develop through layering, disruption and revision, with no fixed image guiding the outcome.

Her paintings register shifting atmospheric conditions rather than stable forms. Light is used to construct and unsettle depth, producing surfaces that resist immediate resolution.

Toovey returned to painting in 2025 after a career in education and arts management. She holds a Master of Creative Arts (Visual Arts). Her work is developed through sustained studio inquiry and material engagement.

In 2025, she was awarded Best of Show at the Ipswich Art Awards.
