I am passionate about animals and our beautiful planet. I particularly love painting animals, from a realistic and detailed pet portrait showing the particular animal's character or expression, to a loose and expressionistic painting of a bird in flight, or horse in motion. I love working in different mediums and am continually pushing myself to try new techniques. Mostly I work in pastels, but I also enjoy using acrylics, watercolour, coloured pencils and have some fun with mixed media.

I only started art once my children were grown up, and it was most unexpected as I had never had an artistic tendency or 'talent'. It began when I wrote a children's book, which needed illustrations. What a wonderful thing it has been to find a creative passion. I love bringing joy to the recipient of one of my artworks - often this is shown with tears but so rewarding as I know then that I have done the job of bringing emotion into the piece.
