This piece started as an abandoned watercolor landscape based on a photo I took in Saginaw, MI's Japanese Cultural Center garden. Almost 10 years later, I decided to have some fun with it by adding patterns, metallic touches, and figures inspired by images on retro Japanese tea cannisters. I aimed for it to have a dreamlike feel, otherworldly.
