Intaglio Etching Study

This study reflects Alan Wood-Thomas's engagement with the architectural spaces and monumental figures that characterize Pablo Picasso's late work. Simplified forms stretch across a structured landscape, where arches, windows, and elongated bodies merge into a unified visual rhythm. The composition balances serenity with subtle tension, transforming the human figure into an enduring symbol of memory and artistic continuity. Created as a preparatory study for The Burials of Picasso series, the etching demonstrates Wood-Thomas's ability to absorb Picasso's modernist vocabulary while expressing it through his own elegant, lyrical line.
