Ink wash and graphite on paper
Interlocking abstracted figures emerge through bold contour lines, layered graphite, and rich ink washes. Large geometric fields of black, gray, and white create a dramatic architectural space that both contains and amplifies the flowing forms. Blurring the boundary between figuration and abstraction, Alan Wood-Thomas uses contrast, negative space, and rhythmic line to transform the reclining figure into a powerful modernist composition.
