Aimee J Mattila’s background is firmly rooted in nature, an eclectic spiritually, alternative belief systems and an abundance of creativity. Aimee’s spiritual quest has always paralleled her creative vision. Her art serves as a voice into her inner world and as a place of sacred insight and revelation. Professionally trained as a jeweler and coppersmith, Aimee first started as an illustrator and graphic artist. She became a painter in the last decade and has always had a fondness for mixed media.
Aimee J Mattila was born in late May, with four planets in Gemini. That means four sets of twins in her head. She grew up in the country, outside the rural town of Woodland, Washington. At age six, she knew she wanted to be an artist; her creativity was her voice. She began art classes at age 10 and went on to receive a BFA in Jewelry & Metalsmithing and a MFA in Sculpture. She has worked as a graphic artist, fine artist, photographer, bench jeweler, activity director, 1% for Arts public artist, and an art instructor.
Growing up out in the country and being immersed in nature was an amazing life experience. Aimee's love of nature’s renewal is combined with her diverse and eclectic life path. All this experience bears witness on her art. Aimee's imagination and inventiveness have continued to be a vital and essential part of her identity as a human. Her creativity is a passion she has followed her entire life. Art equals life blood.
