Yanelis Matos was born in Puerto Rico and was raised in Boston when she was 5 years old. She has been making art since November 2021. Yanelis seeks inspiration in emotions and wants people to connect with the picture to be able to feel the emotion it has in it. Her photographs are diverse such as abstracts, nature, and portraits. She found herself through art and wants other people to express and find themselves through art too.

I think about all the influences in my life that have brought me to where I am today. Having the experiences and learning more as an artist to create work that comes from my vision feels like a new world opening up. Being a young artist is difficult because we often don't get as much recognition. As I continue to see the world differently, I’ll keep creating art that is significant in our lives.
