CJ is a youth artist born in South Carolina and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He has been an artist since early middle school, filling up dozens of sketchbooks before coming to Artists for Humanity in 2024. What inspires him to make art is a personal passion to express and inspire thought processes in other people. He started out making traditional landscape paintings, but after a few adjustments he began making abstract paintings with one thing in mind: use anything but a brush.
My inspiration comes from the emotion I feel when painting. As a neurodivergent artist with ADHD, I tend to paint better in the moment, not allowing my thoughts to cloud my judgment and painting with pure intuition. My process is to put my thoughts down as soon as they form, allowing my imagination to be realized on the canvas rather than curating it to a specific taste.
