Cheng received his MFA in Fine Arts from the California College of the Arts and his BFA from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. He was a recipient of the Murphy & Cadogan Contemporary Art Award and a finalist for the Barclay Simpson Award in 2023. His work has been exhibited internationally, including Shenzhen Biennale of Contemporary Art (Shenzhen), The 11th Shenzhen Youth Art Week (Shenzhen), Gray Days, Orange Ways, solo exhibition at A Space Gallery (Brooklyn), FOCUS Art Fair New York (Chelsea, New York), Art on Paper New York (Pier 36, New York), Anti/Thesis (Minnesota Street Project, San Francisco), Phantom Dimensions (Black Brick Project, Brooklyn), and the Murphy & Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition (SOMArts, San Francisco).
Cheng’s paintings are included in the collection of Han Jian Fine Art Gallery (Beijing) and continue to explore the tension between urban structure and emotional resonance through the language of abstraction.
