Working with roof tiles, fabric, concrete blocks, video recordings, and site-specific gestures, Bao constructs environments that reflect on mourning, distance, and the tension between traditional practices and modern state-driven urbanization. His projects often begin with firsthand observation—walking through villages, interviewing residents, or documenting altered religious sites—and develop into installations that invite viewers to experience the emotional and spatial ruptures embedded in these landscapes.
His current practice continues to expand through interdisciplinary research, integrating anthropology, ritual studies, and an interest in how individuals navigate belief and belonging within rapidly changing environments.
