Jingyu’s home province, Shandong, is one of the oldest regions in China and has played an important role in China since the beginning of the Chinese civilization. Growing up in a province steeped in Chinese history during a time of openness, great change, and rapid social and economic development in China afforded Jing the opportunity to learn about contemporary art through a traditional lens. This has helped her develop her imaginative and broad vision as seen in her art. In China, her generation of artists is called the "new generation", their generation will represent the future of Chinese contemporary art.
