Algae may be the answer to fighting climate change. They may be responsible for over half of the oxygen in the ocean. These for the most part small organisms are photosynthetic and they sequester carbon for growth. This means they can mitigate the accumulation of greenhouse gasses and thus help slow climate change. Utilizing agricultural waste algae also produce bioenergy, biofuels, and biomaterials. What an interesting organism Algae!
