About the artist

Howard Kanovitz

American

1929-2009

American painter. Kanovitz studied at New York Univeristy under Franz Kline. His early work is influenced by Kline's abstract impressionism. He later pioneered in photorealism by painting over photographic images projected on a canvas, creating nearly photorealistic detail that investigates the connection between imagination and reality.
