John Steuart Curry

American

1897-1946

American painter. Attended Kansas City Art Institute and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Started his career as a magazine illustrator; his later works portrayed events of the Great Depression and numerous accounts of American History. Collected works found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
