About the artist

Rosemarie Beck

American

1923-2003

American Abstract Expressionist and Figurative Expressionist Painter. Beck graduated from Oberlin College in 1944 with a bachelor's degree in art history. She later studied at Columbia University, the Art Students League in New York, and The Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. Beck was a key member of the second generation of the New York School abstract expressionists. She taught at Queens College of New York, Vassar College, Middlebury College, the Vermont Studio Center, and the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture.
