About the artist

Andreas Feininger

American/ French

1906-1999

Born in France with American citizenship, Feininger studied architecture and used a photography as a medium to capture elements of the structures he was interested in. He later moved to the US and used his interest in photography to pursue a career at LIFE magazine as a photojournalist. His photography emphasizes a geometric and balanced aesthetic, often found in the architecture of cities like New York.
