About the artist

Ida Rittenberg Kohlmeyer

American

1912-1997

American painter and sculptor. Kohlmeyer earned her BA and MFA from Tulane University. Starting her art career late in life, she was influenced by abstract expressionism and artists like Hans Hoffman. As a prominent southern artist, she is known for paintings and sculptures with a vast vocabulary of shapes and vibrant colors.
