About the artist

Isolde Baumgart

German

1935-2011

German graphic artist, sculptor, and university lecturer. She studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin and then in Kassel, Germany with Hans Leistikow and Hans Georg Hillmann. She became known mainly through her movie posters, and also designed a notable stamp series for the German Federal Post Office. She is married to fellow graphic artist Jim Monson.
