About the artist

Elijah Gowin

American

b. 1967

American photographer and mixed media artist. Received his MFA in Photography from the University of New Mexico and is currently a Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In his photographic and mixed-media work, he examines layered narratives and elements of "ritual, landscape and memory." He received the John S. Guggenheim Fellowship in 2008, among other awards, and founded the Tin Roof Press for art and photography publications.
