About the artist

Richard Black

American

1932-2020

American printmaking based in Iowa. Received his BFA from Drake Unkiversity in 1957 and MSAE from the University of Wisconsin in 1958. Major exhibitions include venues such as the Des Moines Art center, IA (1987); University of Dallas, TX (1997); and Wayne State University, NC (2011). Awards include the First Friends of Drake Arts Award for Excellence in teaching and Artistic Achievement (1987); the Outstanding Printmaker Award from Mid America Print Council (1996); and MAPC Outstanding Printmakers Awards from MAPC Journal, Vol. 20 No. 3/4 (2012). Black was Professor of Art at Drake University from 1960-1994.
