Macaws are beautiful, brilliantly colored members of the parrot family. They possess a brilliant plumage, and a coloring that is suited to the Amazon jungle with its bright fruits and flowers and vivid green canopies. It was this colouring that inspired me to paint Maisie... she was such a joy to create and I certainly went to town with the colours 🌈.
The dark black feathers have been substituted with blues, aquas, bright greens and rich gold. The white area around her beak, contains some soft pastel blues, arctic blue, coral pink and white. The top of her head is a mixture of greens, yellow, australian sky blue and soft pink... this area blends into a section of beautiful aquas, colbalt blue and pastel pink. Maisie's body is a flame of yellow, gold, orange and red. These aren't all the colours! Have a look at the close-ups to see all the details!
Macaw Fun Fact: Blue and yellow macaws have been recorded flying as far as 25km to feed - oh my goodness, I am so glad I have a coffee drive thru only a 5km drive away 😂
